Treadmill access is open to those who have had at least one lesson with an instructor or has equivalent experience. The treadmill should be used for show dog exercise or pet dog enrichment only. This is not to be used for recovery programs. This session is instructor-free and held during other services. Please prepare for distractions.

Puppy Play and Obstacles

This session is for Puppies approximately 10 lbs and under.

Puppies must have received age-appropriate vaccines from a licensed veterinarian and negative fecal. Records must be provided.

We cannot guarantee there will be puppies in each play session for the size groups every week, but the floor will be open to free play and obstacles.

Handlers will be required to remain seated during off leash play.

This session is for puppies up to 5 months unless otherwise advised by the instructor.

You do not have to be a student to have your dog evaluated. Please review the AKC rules and regulations. No treats are to be used during the test. The fee for having your dog evaluated by an approved evaluator is a separate fee from the AKC application fee.

Ever wonder why your dog can zero in on sniffing, chasing squirrels, or following a scent, yet struggles to focus during training or at home? This Trickovation workout is designed to improve your dog’s focus through engaging mental challenges.

You'll learn tricks like:

• Walking calmly past distractions.

• Training your dog to ignore food and toys.

• Backing up from food.

• Holding eye contact with duration.

These exercises not only give your dog a mental workout but also help uncover areas where miscommunication might be affecting your dog’s attention. By the end of these sessions, you'll have tools to improve your dog’s focus and better understand how to support their success.

Obedience training through tricks and games.

Tricks to help your dog gain confidence through fun and supportive exercises. Whether your goal is to prepare your dog for real-life situations (like trips to the groomer), enhance their performance in sports, or simply strengthen the bond you share, this class is for you.

Activities include:


-Trust-building games.
-Navigating new surfaces and obstacles.
-Fun challenges tailored to your dog’s confidence level.


Confidence games have far-reaching benefits for dogs of all ages.

This class is for puppies up to 20 weeks. You do not need to attend an evaluation before you begin.

Train your puppy skills such as walking beside you on a leash, paying attention, finding their own toys instead of your shoes, and coming when called. Once you conquer all of the required topics, your puppy will earn a special achievement and be eligible to move up.


Requirements: Your puppy should be home for at least 14 days before attending class. Provide your puppy's vaccine documents and negative fecal with approval from the trainer before your first group class.

Adolescent dogs often have unique training challenges. Train your young dog obedience skills and manners while also navigating adolescence.

This class is for dogs who pull on the leash, jump on people and sometimes find focusing a bit difficult. Using micro skills and relationship-based play, pet parents will learn how to address these behaviors while teaching their dog new skills and building an even stronger bond along the way.

Level 1 Includes basic obedience practice and our essential foundations. Group classes are for dogs comfortable around other dogs and people.



New Students:
New students should begin with a Puppy Program or Mastering Manners. This class works well with the Mastering Manners program.

This class is for graduates of MJ's Puppy Skills classes as well as graduates of Mastering Manners. Begin working towards your dog's Canine Good Citizen while learning and practicing additional next-level skills.

More challenges, distractions and obedience skills await. This class is for dogs that have completed levels 1 and 2 or have permission from the instructor due to an equivalent level of training.

Dogs should be in a flat collar or nonrestrictive harness and be able to walk politely and work around other dogs in the group setting for this class.

This is a graduate level class meaning dogs and handlers should already have a strong foundation with the techniques used at MJ's

Pre-requisites:

-Handlers must have completed a Puppy Skills or Level One Certificate with a dog at MJ's
-Dogs must have earned a Puppy Skills or Level One Certificate or have approval from the instructor.
-Dogs must be manageable on non-restrictive equipment.
-Dogs must be safe around other dogs and people including when off leash. While dogs are not expected to interact with each other, there will be some off leash exercises.

Unlike mundane fetch, which lacks enrichment and strains dogs' bodies with repetitive motions, Retrieve Rush offers a fresh approach. Designed for all dogs, it enhances off-leash cooperation, distance cues, and provides challenges. Your dog will master retrieving items to your hand and placing them in a bucket, while also practicing distance cues. It's a blast for both humans and canines alike. Competition obedience run-thru with Pat Chery. $10 first run, $5 additional runs. Time slots are approximate. Additional runs may be added as time allows. Registering reserves your spot for the first run in the chosen time slot. You may register for another run in a different time slot, or request a second run in the same time slot if time allows.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is now an Official Title!

This six-week program is a natural precursor to the AKC Canine Good Citizen®. “S.T.A.R.” stands for Socialization, Training, Activity and a Responsible owner. Learn how to train your puppy using a positive approach. After completing six weeks of training, your puppy will be eligible for the official title based on attendance and completion of skills. The course price includes training and evaluation but does not include AKC fees for submitting your title application.


Courses have a set start and end date. All classes must be attended in order to earn your title. Typically, up to one make-up class is available, but this will depend on the participants' availability.

Combining everyday manners with AKC Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine skills in real-life settings. The first class will meet at the training academy. Additional classes will be held in various public locations.

Teach Your Dog to Put Toys Away, Ring Toss, or Stack Cups

Join our Tidy Up Workshop, where we'll teach your canine companion to put their toys away with style and flair!

This trick is not just for show. Toy placement games are great for dogs struggling with the "drop-it."

Train your dog to put away toys, return rings, or stack cups. You and your dog will gain the skills needed to perfect this trick together with a bit of practice.

Participants should bring their own toys and basket, ring toss, or cups to stack (whichever they want to learn).

This is a group workshop for dogs that are not aggressive or reactive towards other dogs and people.

The small dog grooming appointment includes a complete bath package and nail trimming. Coat trimming and styling are added at the request of the owner. Ear cleaning and nail shaping are also included.

Prices vary depending on the specific services you choose at the time of your dog's appointment.

Please use this service for dogs no more than 25lbs. Dogs must be in good health and up to date on vaccines. A current Rabies certificate is required. Dogs may be dropped off for their grooming session unless there are special considerations, and it is in the best interest of the dog to have the owner nearby if needed. The owner will be required to remain in the waiting area for senior dogs only or dogs with special considerations.
